Beyond divine divinity was something only a "geek" could love...divine divinity would have been more popular if people knew how good it was.
I hope the new game has the same "charm" as divine Divinity.
in conclussion, bite me. sincerely rev.

i think it is, Barta. (oh & it's great to see u again! )
as for popularity of in comparison to i think has seen more response. however i have to admit that the marketing of both games leave much to be desired. the publishers of both games have somehow failed to expose both games enough for people to know & at least try out. the Larians deserve good marketing for the good games that they have produced.

Maybe i will play beyond divinity again. I guess i'll have to read alot of stuff when i get into the academy, down on 3 by 5 cards and answer all of the questions....feel like i'm back in school.

So, you are complaining that you have to read a lot in Beyond Divinity?

feel like i'm back in school. No you're not back in school. You can say i like this game or i don't like it. It is your own opinion. Saying this game is bad only because you don't like it, it is not fair. But the worse is to write : Beyond divine divinity was something only a "geek" could love... It's insulting for the people who like this game. BTW the name of the game is simply "Beyond Divinity" barta

You can also use the term "geek" with a lot of irony.

I think most of the stigma attached to the term 'computer geek' wore off when Bill Gates made his first billion dollars, not to mention all the dot com millionaires (Google, etc) since then. The word 'geek' can still be used as an insult (to various degrees), but is not necessarily taken as such by the intended target (as an insult, it generally means the person using it is jealous or embarrassed because they don't know as much about computers or technology ).
In some circles, being a geek is something to aspire to. For example, the magazine Maximum PC sometimes rates gadgets that it does not do a full review of as 'geek tested and approved (or disapproved)' and has had a couple quizzes, where you answer multiple choice questions and check your score to see how much of a geek you are (IIRC last year the categories were something like uber geek [never scored this high ], regular geek, geek in training or geek wannabe).

Geek good, geek bad, either way, I'm sensing sum negative energy in tha room.
Ah am geek, an' ah urs glad. Wha iz evurrbody mad?
Seriously though, all the reading is often part of the fun in an RPG: tha story! But if you don't like reading, but you still want to beat the game right, then get yourself a nice ole' guide and step-by-step your way through. Otherwise, just do what I did my first time: wing it. I did so many things wrong but it was sooo fun.

I think the main thing is that there is a clear and active difference between 'geek', 'nerd' & 'dork' these days, as well. The nerd/geek/dork test (Thanks to Cleglaw who found & posted this on my forum a while back ) Pretty informative, as well as interesting When I took it, I got: Pure Nerd 56 % Nerd, 34% Geek, 21% Dork For The Record: A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia. A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one. A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions. You scored better than half in Nerd, earning you the title of: Pure Nerd. The times, they are a-changing. It used to be that being exceptionally smart led to being unpopular, which would ultimately lead to picking up all of the traits and tendences associated with the "dork." No-longer. Being smart isn't as socially crippling as it once was, and even more so as you get older: eventually being a Pure Nerd will likely be replaced with the following label: Purely Successful. Congratulations! *** So there ya go - I'm officially a nerd!

Correction; it turns out I'm 78 % Nerd, 21% Geek, 34% Dork. Well there you have it.

You scored less than half in all three, earning you the title of: Joe Normal.
If you'd asked me a few years ago, I'd have scored a lot higher in the Geek and Dork categories. I've really learned to relax these last few years.

I got around 60-70% on nerd, 5% on geek, and another 60-70% on dork. I'm the classic 80's nerd .
