I found the spider before the cream and I had a close save to him and I loaded. I picked up the creme and was doing other things and when I used the creme and went back and now it's not picking up the trigger for him and he just attacks me. Is there a way to reset this?

After you used the odour neutralizing potion in the alchemist's house, did you use any of the other potions? That would negate the effect.

How close were you to the spider in your earlier save? It is possible to get close enough so that the spider turns hostile, without having it approach to attack. In that case it is too late for the potion to have any effect.

I think I was too close because I loaded a previous save and my save is within the perimeter boundary. I also didn't use any of the potions especially the chicken one. It sucks.
