Today, I've got this email:

Hello Friends of Tom du Barry (Some of you may have known him as his nickname Mea Culpa.)

It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform you of the recent news regarding Tom.
Tuesday evening at 4:30, Tom died of a heart attack. He went suddenly and without any suffering.

His farewell will be on Wednesday 18th of July;

10 AM - Service and final farewell

Bowra & O'dea Dianella Chapel
231 Grand Prom (Cnr of Walter Road next to Gull)
Dianella Perth WA

11:30 AM - Celebration of Tom's Life

Fishy Affair Restaurant

Some knew him for a long time, some may have not. But to all, he was a dear friend. right now, I'm too sad to post much, but please feel free to add something nice about him.

This is a sad day. I don't know what else to say but that Mea will be missed here.

I don't quite know what to say. I communicated with him via the forums on the net, and yet I never knew Mea really. It is an unpleasant surprise to us here, but certainly a terrible shock to his family. Losing someone at such a young age is a great misfortune. My sympathies and condolences to the family and friends.

It's weird. I'm going to Perth in a couple of weeks. I figured I'd go check his restaraunt out and say hi. Of course, life doesn't wait...

Mea is a dear dear person & i totally regret never telling him that. never told him how wonderful a person he is, not only to me but to many of my friends here in Larian. of course, he would say that it's all his pleasure & i believe that wholeheartedly.

this is just a lousy way to know Mea's real name is Tom du Barry. heck, the guy's name even sounds as friendly as him!

now that i won't be able to meet him in Australia, i hope to be of worth to be able to see him in heaven.

I just got off the phone with his best friend Troy Clark. He knew Mea for almost half his life and can only confirm what we all know about Mea.
He was the kindest, most gentle person you could ever know. He was a giver, never a taker.

I also asked Troy to place a white rose from all of us on his coffin, and he promised me he would do that for us.
He said that Mea got the most joy when he was with his friends online. He loved us for sure and we will never have a friend like him again ever. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />

As he was not married, and he didn't have any kids nor family, we were all his children, brothers and sisters.
His farewell will be recorded, Troy promised me I could have the tape to use for the tribute page I'm going to make for Mea.

When this is all over, Troy will register here as well as on Chaos, I told him he was more then welcome to join us.
He lost his closest friend, but I'm sure he will find comfort and friendship with us here. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hug.gif" alt="" />

Hello All,

Thank you for your kind words. Many people have expressed their grief and feelings of loss to me. I feel them as sorely as many of you.

I knew Tom (Mea) for 15 Years and in that time I have never seen him angry. He allowed me to stay in his spare room, even during periods when I couldn't afford to pay anything. He was a very giving man and a great friend. I will miss him always and never forget him.

I feel that the world is a dimmer place without his shining light. He will be with us always in our hearts and spirits. we will meet with him once again.

Being active rather in the German part of the forum, I didn't have much to do with him but I kept reading the English posts and of course his. And it's always a pity if someone dies... especially someone you know (more or less).

Remember, tomorrow at 10 am local time, it's Mea's Farewell.

I was away since the Sunday and I didn't know about this until now.

I liked Mea very well, because he had an farirly good sense of humour and was one of the few who found real joy in my dry humour.
With that, I will miss him.
