That I started reading Harry Potter when I was 13 might have been the major reason I liked the books so much. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> But I didn't like the movies (the first one was ok). They didn't resemble the books well at all IMO.
They ARE children's books though (well, children under 20 at least <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />). They're not overly sophisticated, and there are tons of holes in the setting and stories. But there are some nice ideas and story twists in them IMO, so they're not a complete waste of time. Especially not if you're too young to spot the holes. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
And IMO the important thing is wether you like them or not. If you like them, there's nothing wrong with that. I'm not a fan of elitism based on taste (I have good taste, and since I don't like that book it is a bad book, and everyone who enjoyed it is therefore idiots), and I therefore try to avoid it. Not that I'm allways good at avoiding it, mind. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />
