Help I lost janus. I talked to him and he said to meet him in his room. I searched the castle and all the buildings around the castle but can not find janus. Is there someway to skip to the next part. I allready don't like the castle. just want to get through it as fast as possable. Can not even use my lock picks here. need to get where I can kill something. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sleepey.gif" alt="" />

I found janus. Found the cat, gave the flowers to his girl, gave the letter to his girl, and washed the dishes. How do I get threw in the dungeon or whatever i need to do next. I found a celler in one of the buildings but nothing is in it. does it have a purpose. I am tired of just walking around in the castle. what about the celler with the guards. What do I do next.

You can use magic in the cellar that you found, so can bring locked chests there to lockpick. Also, you can toss them out the front gate, or over the castle walls, to get later.
I piled all my excess loot in a chest, and tossed it out the front gate before giving the teddy bear to Leila, so I would not be carrying too much in the dungeon. I still collected a lot of loot there, though, and had to stash it in a barrel (I put a flag on the map, so I could come back for it later).

cool. since janus seems to be gone again I hope lela gives me the quest soon. I allready have a lot of chests outside so I will open the locked ones and combine them. Thanks A lot for the help on this post and all the others. One thing though The person who had hell spikes listed in the list of top skills to get needs to add a note that if you like monsters that are real hard to kill you may want avoid that skill. I read that post than put points on hell spikes, than had to stop using it. Made everything to easy. My favorite bad guys are the ones I have to fight several times before I can kill them. Maybe someday someone will make a game where the badguys get stronger as you do. I have over a million in gold, 102 scorpion traps,62 trailbombs, and a lot of eggs. should be ready if things get hard. I got lucky at the the beginning of the game and found a two handed sword that max's at 113,bought a good bow from the elf and just repair the armer from the beginning of the game because it is light. Two more questions though in the darkforest I found some flowers I can not find a use for. not sure where I picked them up at. Also I have not been able to set f1 through f12 keys it would be nice to have a key to drink rejuv's with and change from bow to sword not a big deal though since I can pause the game then do it. It would make battles move faster. Great Game but I wish I could skip the storfist castle part. To slow and nothing to kill. I am not to good at the brainwork but great at killing monsters stronger than me. Lets all pray to the devine one for stronger opponents.

About that dungeon? up at the top theres a black area that you get in by pulling the three levers. It has a lot of red dots "something to kill!!" but nothing seems to work in there. I can find a door by moving my mouse around but I guess I can not get to it. Is there a light switch or something. Whats the trick here? I can not see anything, kill anything or get out.

I guess you found Janus... The game does start to get easier as it progresses. However, you can choose a handicap, if you wish (avoid certain equipment, stop distributing stat or skill points, etc). I started collecting charms to use when I had better equipment, but then decided not to use them. I found a sword with Frost on it (similar to the Freeze spell, but ignores the target's resistance, so it always works), but it made fights so boring I stopped using it within a minute. If you have not already done so, you can also check the game options within DD, and change the difficulty from normal to hard. The problem with games where the enemies scale directly with your level is that if you have a problem with a particular opponent or situation, you can not just avoid that area until you are stronger. If you are not sure where you picked the flowers up, they may be from the castle. When Janus asks you to pick flowers for Leila, there are several there, but she only takes one. There are flowers near the talking tree in the Dark Forest that the alchemist wants, along with a tree branch needed for the Corinna's summoning ritual in Verdistis. You need the associated quest to find the item, though. To set a hotkey for potions, you should just have to open the potion menu by clicking on the potion icon in the interface at the bottom of the screen, hover the mouse cursor over a potion icon (minor restoration potions, for example) and press one of the function keys (F1-F9,F11,F12 : IIRC F10 can not be assigned). This should work the same as assigning hotkeys to skills or weapons. Do you perhaps have a keyboard with extra abilities for the function keys? If so, it may default to enabling these alternate hotkeys, and need to be switched to standard mode to have the keys behave like regular function keys. Tutorial-Changing F1-F12 hotkeys to different keysWhere are you now, exactly? Are you on the first level where you escape and get your stuff back, or the next level? Help! Can't find Gyrion... Iona's dungeon maps The game has multiple areas / cellars / dungeon levels on different 'maps'. Usually it only displays what you are suppose to see at that location, but sometimes you can see monsters on screen or the mini-map from areas close to where you are. I ran into a glitch in a game once, and got this screen shot of the map (30KB) showing several dungeons and sewers south of Rivertown, which normally are blacked out when not in each area. Also, it is possible some areas were changed before release, leaving creatures stranded outside of the play area. It sounds like you may have gotten through a wall somehow (a glitch in the pathfinding, maybe). If that is the case, and you do not have a recent save you can reload, it is possible to change your character's position. Teleporting Anywhere, via hex editorThere can sometimes be a small gap in the north west corner when two walls meet, but if present it is only large enough to toss a teleporter stone through (which of course you do not have now).

Can't stop addicted. Stat points, loot and killing monsters. I spread mine evenly. Most rpg you don't need to give points to life but this one I started finding better drops after I started awarding my points evenly. I started collecting charms to use when I had better equipment, but then decided not to use them. I found a sword with Frost on it (similar to the Freeze spell, but ignores the target's resistance, so it always works), but it made fights so boring I stopped using it within a minute.
I am putting all my charms, jewels and rings along with 1 million in gold in a chest. I thought maybe I would post it somewheres as a starter kit. Whats the name of that sword. I will put it in my chest. The problem with games where the enemies scale directly with your level is that if you have a problem with a particular opponent or situation, you can not just avoid that area until you are stronger.
You should not have to. Most opponents in the these games have way to kill them. Once you figare that out you can allways kill them. In diablo 1 The first time I went against diablo I died 20 times but after I killed him once I never had a problem. The trick is to not avoid them but to learn how to kill them. If you are not sure where you picked the flowers up, they may be from the castle. When Janus asks you to pick flowers for Leila, there are several there, but she only takes one.
I noticed them after I got the vase at the beginning of dark forest. I think I picked them up there in the burial chambers, I was using teleport or whatever it is called to steal things from the tombs that was locked.
Thanks I was trying to do it through options. Where are you now, exactly? Are you on the first level where you escape and get your stuff back, or the next level?
Third level I think. work your way to the top of the dungion area. there is a room with three levers in it. right above that it is all black, but I could see red dots that meant enemies. I pulled the levers and could not find what they opened so I thought maybe you had to pull them in a certain order. clicked on one again and my mage started walking toward the right side wall, went through but now i am stuck. There is a door there."in the black area" Do not have time tonight but will take a screen shot tomorrow. It sounds like you may have gotten through a wall somehow (a glitch in the pathfinding, maybe). I have a save I think, but not ready to give yet.

[color:"orange"]Can't stop addicted. Stat points, loot and killing monsters. I use a mage and played through till I got to dark forest then started new game. Building my mage diferant each time. By the time i can use them I have found a lot of them. There was a post or something about duping weapons. Have not tried that either. Something about using quicksave. I will play around with it then if I can not get out I will load my save. I started computors with dos so I can do the edit but prefer not. Besides now that I know what to do replaying is no problam and since I am not changing weapons or armor I do not lose anything. You know that is something to think about I have not found a weapon with frost or lightening or anything like that. I have found some that changes my stats and adds resistance but not one that me any type of magical killing power. although I have not missed having them either. I did read the pm. Thanks for the offer. I was saving a responce till I tried to edit for the treasury in the castle. If I tried and failed then I was going ask you to edit me in. I can not bring myself to leave all that money and gems there. Maybe the red dots are on the fourth level.

That is possible. Maybe nobody has noticed that before because they have not tried an even point distribution. I think mage builds tend to sacrifice strength to boost intelligence more.

To copy an item; <span class='standouttext'>Spoiler : </span><span class='spoiler'>quick save the game, then drag an item out of your inventory, but not somewhere there is a red X. Without dropping first, quick load the game, then release the mouse button when it starts to load. This will produce a copy of the item on the ground, with the original still in your inventory.</span>

I found swords with life/mana drain, lightning damage, deathstrike (stupid spell shakes the screen, though thankfully at level 2 it didn't trigger very frequently) and a few others (only noticed Frost once). I don't think I got anything with extra damage in the catacombs, but I bought a sword from the traveling merchant near the cursed abbey that had stun. This was a good upgrade (for a melee warrior, anyway), and when I replaced that sword I started investing in the passive stun skill.
I primarily looked at base damage for swords, though, then stat boosts. If they had resistance or damage bonuses that was fine, but these were never a deciding factor when comparing swords.
[color:"orange"]Maybe the red dots are on the fourth level.
The forth level of the dungeon is fairly small, with only one creature in it.

The first time i played the game i did not notice that the items are randomly generated and i used the items i found. The second time i played the game i decided to get very good items. For exemple, there is a good two handed sword hidden near Glenborus, the dwarven village. Before to grab the sword i made a savegame. Then i looked to the stats of the item, if the stats were not good enough i loaded the savegame and i tried again. Finally i got an excellent sword with great stats and frost and poison dammages. I did the same thing for other items like rings, amulets, etc. and also, before visiting the shops to get spell books.

Iwas right to not give up. When I restarted the game the top of the dungion walls was showing up. I adjusted the gamma as high as it would go "2.45 I think" and the dungion showed, now I could see I was in a black section in the walls and could use telekineses to open chests. Then I found A spot and Flash to get back to the dungion like you advised. I still did know where I was but had a lot of stuff to kill and some more loot. Finally I found stairs going up and counted. I was on level 3. I have to finish level 3 and find 4 but i am going to the sewers first. I am hoping that my teleporters are there. I miss them. Ok this shrimpo thing is the twerp that appeared and disappeared when I touched the first tombstone. Thanks for your help. When I first read the forum on diablo I ran across a post where everyone was posting what there favorate armer and weapons was. I was surprised at what other players prefered. A lot of it was not on my list. So good drops may be a matter of who your talking to and how they play. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" />

I tried that to get books and had no luck. I stole one from arcanna but it did not work so I sold it back for 6000. Maybe I just do not have the touch but I have found the weapons I like and am getting real high dollar drops plus a lot of charms and traps. The thing that gets me is armer does not seem to matter I do as good with low quality armor as I do with armor rated at 300. But with light amor I can carry more. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/freak.gif" alt="" />

You will get 2 very good armors later in the game. Be careful when you add charms on an item because you can't make any change later.

[color:"orange"]I tried that to get books and had no luck. I found Kistandalius or (less often) Blake in Ars Magicana and Corinna or (less often) Mpenzak in Verdistis were most likely to have spell books. If you quicksave before running your mouse cursor over them or hitting the alt key nearby, it might take a dozen or 2 (or even 3) quickloads before you see a spellbook for sale. Usually I just checked whenever I went by or was stashing or selling loot, but sometimes reloaded a few times looking for charms or spellbooks. [color:"orange"]I stole one from arcanna but it did not work so I sold it back for 6000. Do you mean when you clicked on it in your inventory nothing happened, or it did not teach you the listed spell? If the former, I don't think you can learn from a spell book when the game is paused (might be thinking of something else). There are a couple spell books which can teach different spells, or which teach something slightly different than what is listed ( Which spell).
