Larian Studios Forums General Chat Chat (Anything) creating a guestbook in HTML style

Hi guys, I need your help once again. I'm trying to create a guestbook for a site I made for my Tribe in TribalWars, a webbrowsed dutch online game. The site is everyoneweb.com/WoB .
you can toggle HTML editing, so is there anyone who can tell me how to create a guestbook?
The style I got in mind is like this:
at the botom of the screen you got a little textwindow, where visitors can type their name, and underneath that, textwindow in the same still, just a bit larger where players can type their comment. Underneath or next to that I would like a button called 'Post Comment', I know how to create these, but nothing more. So then if you would press 'post' your name and comment would appear as the top comment, maybe with a datestamp, so you would get a list that starts with the most recent comment and goes down to the oldest one. I would also like that there are only 15 comments displayed on a page, so if the site would get moren then 15 comments, their would be a button allowing you to switch to a page with older comments.

Does your webhost support php, or something like that? And you need a database :-), Like MySQL or something alike. Cause you will need both of those .
Or if you don't have that, then you could grab some free (probably with banners) guestbookhost somewhere. Like http://123guestbook.com

Well, I don't know anything about php, but I just found this button: code/HTML gained from third party and then in brackets 'for creating a guestbook, forum, calender ...' maybe that's it?

EDIT: Got a guest book up and running, altought it ain't really part of the site, it's a good start

You can conncet your guestbook to your site, if you only make sure you put in the right adress. Mine is conncected cause i ahve an image on top of my guestbook page, so if you click on that, you get back at my homepage

Yes i'm indeed Dutch-speaking, remarkable that you know which language your forum members speak!

About the guestbook: I use MyGB now, it was a recommended site by everyoneweb.com so I tried it, and it got all the basic stuff I need for a guestbook. I can delete posts, change colors and so on. Another usefull item is that there's a link who takes you back to the site you came from(in this case, my site).
Should something about myGB make me change my opinion about it, I'll take a look at those other Guestbook-sites you recomended.

Not necessary now, but when you expand your site you might incorporate a forum like phpbb or SMF. I believe there are lots of companies that offer "free forums" . It could be a nice add-on in the future. Also maybe you should look at free blog software/space (wordpress for instance). It will make your job a whole lot easier.

I visited your website and I have some remarks (beroepsmisvorming)

1) Blue letters on black background give a bad contrast and makes your site harder to read. Also the side menu is very nice of design but with the site it doesn't really fit in (and in firefox it give scrollbars). Try to create the same look on every page. Now some of it is in blue others are pages use white letters.

2) IFRAME's are the spawn of Satan!!!! (to quote my teacher) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Also maybe you should look at free blog software/space (wordpress for instance). It will make your job a whole lot easier and faster. (and your visitors can post comments on every news item you post (the whole web 2.0))

Further I commend your work, I know a lot of people think it is easy but when they do it it isn't that easy any more. You stuck with it, so keep up the good work. I'm already glad that you didn't do a standard frontpage website . I dislike those standard frontpage themes, it lacks personality.

Tribal Wars got a forum for each Tribe, so no need to make one on my website. (I'm also the main moderator on our TW Forum)



Changed them all to white, only one other person said that the blue text wasn't readable very well, but on my screen they come out very nicely, and are rather clear(there's definetly something wrong about my CRT!!), but well I've taken your advice and changed it.
About the side bar: I can only chose from a specific set and well in my opinion, the xp-like version is the one who fits best. I'm using IE, and don't know much about firefox, how comes you got scrollbars?

Thank you, to be honest, I thought it would be easy too, it wasn't that hard but the most annoying part is the upload times for music and pictures.

Iframe on w3schools (great website). The sections of your site are in iframes. It would be nicer (design wise) to use tables. Also blog software might be easy but when you dive into the source code to add your own tweaks and themes you will learn a lot. But maybe it is best you concentrate on HTML first.(Then PHP and a database for content)
