Pressing T should open the stats window (as should the middle button on the bottom left side of the menu bar interface along the bottom of the screen, between the buttons for the skill window and main menu). This is where you need to go to distribute your stat points (when you have unused stat points, the menu button will be a red arrow, and upon opening the stat window there will be buttons beside each stat to add or remove the new stat points.

What language version are you playing, and do you have the latest patch installed?
Some re-release versions of the game may already be updated to the latest 1.0034A version, as shown in the bottom right corner of the main menu, so would not need to be patched. The DVD version is already updated, and the patch (designed for the CD version) should not be installed.

There is a bug in the Russian version of Divine Divinity that I thought I recalled caused a crash when the skill window was opened, though it might be the stat window (or both). In this case a text file needed to be edited, and all the instances of a certain symbol replaced with commas, or something like that. If you have the Russian version, a web search should come up with the exact fix.

If you don't have the manual you can download it as a pdf file.

Can you open the stat window using the menu button?

What language version of the game are you playing, and what is the version number listed in the bottom right corner of the main menu?

Did you mean Call of Duty also crashes, or did to switch back to referring to DD?

There is a file verification procedure in the troubleshooting topic above. Crashing when accessing mage character data most likely means there is some corrupt data in the game files. The character data for the male wizard is on install disk 2, while the female wizard data is on the play CD, so whichever one you tried that crashed, there is a good chance the other will be ok (unless of course you have already tried both and had them crash).

Have you ever actually gone up a level, where there was a sound effect and the skill and stat window icons changed to red arrows, or did you just suddenly arrive at level 122?

The usual character level range at the end of the game is from the mid forties to low fifties. Unless you cheated to level up, you may have ran into a bug with an experience bomb that gave you a much greater bonus that it should have.
History of the mysterious "Experience Bomb".

Your lack of stat points to distribute is probably due to whatever problem boosted your level so high, or it could be related to possible corrupt files (assuming there were any in addition to the likely corrupt mage character data).
If you start a new character, is it at level 1?

A clean re-install of the game may help with the mage issue (see the troubleshooting topic). If there were unreported errors during install, a different optical drive (if you have more than one) may be better able to read the CDs. Make sure you shut down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before installing the game, etc.

Experience points gained when defeating an opponent are proportional to the difference between their character level and yours. If you used the trainer to jump to level 122, you are not going to get any experience points at all from defeating opponents. You can still get experience for completing quests, but not enough to gain another level. The number of points needed to reach a certain level is proportional to the cube of that level (as much experience as it took to get where you are now, it will require 5 times that amount to reach the next level). There are a couple bonuses in the game that will bring you up to the next level, which is the only way you will be able to level (within the game) at this point.

If you do not want to start a new game, you can use iZakaroN's SaveEditor (or from Kiya's site, with description) to give yourself some stat and skill points. This program can also edit experience points, but I'm not sure if the game will drop your level if it loads an edited save with lower experience. When raising experience points the change is not registered until the next time you get experience points, so had you boosted your level that way, you would have gotten all the stat and skill points for each level gained.

Now there is just the crash problem with the mage character...

There is an item editor you can use to change equipment you already have.
DAD's item editor

For quest items, there is a manual way to get/replace them (file swapping).
Lost Items - guide and directory of inventory files

There are a couple ways you can cheat to duplicate items.
To copy an item; Spoiler : quick save the game, then drag an item out of your inventory, but not somewhere there is a red X. Without dropping first, quick load the game, then release the mouse button when it starts to load. This will produce a copy of the item on the ground, with the original still in your inventory. (highlight the text to read)

There is a much easier method for items which can be stacked;
Spoiler : Drag a stack out of (or into) your inventory (or container) and hold down the control key before dropping. This will bring up the split stack pane; type in a negative number and hit enter (the checkmark will be greyed out). This can also be done in the trade window.

You do not need to edit your gold; there is an exploit you can use within the game to get as much of any stackable item (gold, potions, etc) as you want, provided you have at least 2 to start with. Highlight the text at the end of my previous post to read the details.
