If you don't want to look at the map (to avoid spoliers), after you get your stuff back and get onto the first main level, the exit is to the far west. There is no quest to complete; you probably just missed a door, or something. The lower levels, opened by reading a scroll, are optional, and you can return to clear them later, if you wish.
