In between working hard, and taking care of wife and kid (i.e. all on the train to and from work), I'm playing Heroes of Might and Magic 4, Fallout Tactics, Evil Genius, StarCraft, Neverwinter Nights, or Arcanum.
Or 'go' (aka 'weiqi' or 'baduk') against an AI opponent, but I don't think that counts, right?

Evil Genius? Isn't that the hilarious game I saw the trailer for, with 00 getting dipped into a cauldron and the 00 turning into 00ps?

Evil Genius is that one 2HD, yes. It's so nearly a brilliant game, but not quite, IMO. The developers deserve massive kudos for the attempt and it's quirky, funny and wholly original. If there were an EG2 I'd buy it tomorrow.
But there NEEDS to be an EG2 to make it fulfill its potential, sadly. There are just too many things they got not quite right that will annoy over time.
If you can get it at a good price, though, it's worth getting.

Is it just me (and various other concerned PC gamers) who thinks that PC gaming is on a serious decline?
I mean, in the next 6 months there's less than a handful of games that are worth any attention. And I don't think I'm talking about my personal game choices, I'm talking simply about any type of game worth any merit at all.
I'm getting Assassins Creed because there's not a single other release of any merit to me since I got Call of Duty 4 and Crysis waaay back in November. But then Assassins Creed looks quite interesting.
Far Cry 2 and....eh...
...whenever the next Larian game is out.

What about Devil May Cry 4? It's one of the titles I've really been looking forward to. Although this game is best played on console, I don't wanna buy a PS3 just to play DMC4, so I'll buy this one for PC.

Well, I think on the smaller Indies market there's something going on. Aquaria, for example, and now I'm playing the Virtual Villagers. LucasArts, on the other hand, sucks, because they won't publish The Force Unleashed for PC. Right now, I'm waiting for Drakensang, and there are several Adventures out on the German market I'd like to buy.

There've been lean years before. I think the dev cycle is getting longer for PC games, though, which won't help.
At the same time, there are a few games that look interesting out this year:
Total War: Empire is the obvious one for me. Hard To Be A God looks very intriguing. We've already had Soulstorm and Kane's Wrath. StarCraft 2 is due. So Blonde looks like being fun. Battlefield Heroes looks like being funny - AND free. Sacred 2: Fallen Angel is due. Europa Universalis: Rome will be out. Tomb Raider: Underworld is due for a Xmas release.
Some of those I'm more interested in than others, obviously, but this actually looks like a pretty good year for games, to me. Especially as there's undoubtedly a ton of stuff I don't even know about yet...

That's pretty much what I'm talking about - games like that coming out on everything OTHER than the PC. It makes business sense to make a game for the consoles and not the PC because you can charge more - there's none or almost no tech help required at all. Crysis - one of the biggest PC games in years, sold only 80,000 copyies in America 1 month after release (from reports I read). Call of Duty 4 sold 1.4 million on the XBOX360 alone in the first few weeks! Add the PC and PS3 and it should be many times that number. The cost of PC hardware, great graphics cards, are nearly twice that of the Xbox360 now - the hardware market is smothering itself and the game industry is aware of it. Soon, only companies with time to spare will bother releasing something on the PC - having already made millions from the console versions. (Like Assassins Creed)

Plus, Microsoft is cannibalizing the PC gaming market with their XBOX ... And THEN they go into an "Alliance for PC gaming" ... Well, yeah, that's like inviting the burglar into protecting the gems ...

Many companies use "dirty tricks" to get their way, just watch the movie "Pirates of Silicon Valley" if you want a better picture...
