That might even be a better way to go, as I find I pretty much never use the stuff I carry with me. I did keep putting on two items that gave me repair +1, then I figured that was silly when I had skill points to spare, it's not like they do me any good when the game is over
It's probably unnecessary even to bring much gold with you.
