Charm quality stuff can be found eventually, or bought in some shops. There's a few items that can be found before leaving Aleroth that can be good.

Like the rest of an item's stats, the charm quality is random (though lower grade items rarely have a charm quality).

Enchanting weapons/armour/items

If you quick save before running your mouse over an item/chest/merchant or hitting the alt key, you can identify the item or trade with the merchant, then quick load to get different stats or inventory. This can be done repeatedly to get the best stats or specific bonuses on an item (save after finding good candidates) or looking for specific items (such as spell books or charms) from merchants. Don't waste too much time with this, though, it really isn't necessary to get the best possible equipment.

I agree with you Raze, I never spend longer than 5-10 minutes, otherwise it's a waste of game time. smile

Yeah, I usually don't try for too long trying to get that "perfect" item, otherwise it starts to feel like a boring excercise. And it's usually not necessary, maybe unless you're looking for a specific thing to take with you to the end. My last time through I ended up with like 19 various charm quality 4-5 items stuffed in barrels outside the shop, so it turns out that collecting and hoarding them was pretty much a waste.

BUT for a few items, yeah I'll reload a few times. I reloaded one particular piece of armor in Aleroth until it was a charm 5 (luckily it only took three tries)...and I'm still wearing it at lvl 30, and don't intend on giving it up anytime soon either smile

I still see myself using this armor until I go to the wastelands. I've already picked up a better chestplate, but don't want to mess with starting over with the charms I'd want for it. I'd want to save using any further armor for when I can get more gold charms anyway. Plus last time I went to the wastelands I had four really great sets of armor (bought my original Dragon Armor back, so I had two of those wink ) but I still ended up only using one. You can only wear one at a time, and there isn't much point in making more than one all blinged out. Which is kind of a shame. I really do wish the ending were different, you can get all these great charms but by that time there isn't much left to do. Really makes me want to try a different approach, like gather a few choice armor pieces and try to move onto the Wastelands as soon as possible. That seems like fun. Of course I know this is all very off-topic.
