Just upgraded to WinXP SP3 yesterday(05-11-2008) using Windows update and now Divinity crashes sometimes. Never had a single crash before the upgrade and have been playing for 84 game days now.

Receive the following message via game crash to desktop then this pop-up window:
Divinity - Error

Divinity was not correctly terminated the last time. It is recommended that all dynamic files will be cleaned up and that all configuration data will be resetted. All savegames will be still available afterwards.

Do you want to reset the configuration?

Yes NO Cancel

Using the game disc to play/load the game, full installation, DirectX 9.0c updated in April, latest WHQL Certified Nvidia drivers, game updated to version 1.0034. Never had a single crash until last night and this morning. Did the configuration reset as requested, restarted the system, and played for about 2 hours then crashed while saving Ctrl+S. Yestredays crash occured while I was repairing a weapon.

Anybody else experience this?
Has anyone running XP upgraded to SP3 yet?

.......and RAZE if you are out there, any insights as to why this may be happening.

FYI, my sytem is rock solid, no overclocking, no BSOD's in a long time. Like 3+ years now.

A few people have had crash problems with Repair. A couple people found that repairing items on the ground was more reliable than either equipped or in the inventory. I ran into this once (trying to batch repair a bunch of stuff to sell), but reverting to an earlier save (a couple minutes before) fixed the problem, and it did not return.

A few people also had problems with crashes during or just after saving. In some cases this was due to background programs.

Nobody else has mentioned any problems here with XP SP3, that I have noticed. I don't know much about XP3. Perhaps is enables some background process or changes some security settings that could be interfering with the game? Maybe the crashes were just a coincidence (knock on wood), and not related to the service pack?

Thanks for the tips Raze. I'll keep those in mind.
BTW, played for 7 hours yesterday and not 1 crash. *knocks on wood again*
