My head whirled around - there was something in Viper's voice, a gasp, an edge... I saw, his face was a greenish pale, sweating and the jaw muscles were working, he turned away very quickly... what was wrong???
And even his movements seemed to be out of order - stiff and jerky... what was he hiding?I frowned.
As soon as he's back, I'm going to ask him, I decided - still frowning - and wished Hypatia was here. Then I heard a stifled cry, very faint from somewhere - someone in great pain...
