Goemoe would have taught you a level of Restoration had you healed both soldiers. However you may see that spell book offered for sale, in addition to a couple other sources of Restoration levels, so missing it isn't a big deal. Restoration is handy near the start of the game to conserve food (meat and bread) and potions, but you'll probably eventually switch to
restoration potions anyway.
Verlat would have given you
a ring. It is potentially one of the better rings in the game, but I'm sure you can find or buy something acceptable to use instead.

Does Verlat show up in Verdistis if you only healed him? I thought you had to heal both, but am not sure.
