Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) General Sleeping / Merchant refresh?

Hey, hopefully there's still some folks hanging about here. I went back to actually finish Divine Divinity, last time I got distracted about halfway through. Anyhow, I just started the council quest, and I'm concluding that Merchants aren't refreshing their cash..... I've got about 150k gold total, havent spent much gold, just sold stuff off and collected every damn pile of gold I've seen, but EVERY merchant I know of is blank on cash now... there's nobody to sell off items I pick up to.


I'd like to sleep some more and see if they refresh eventually, but after I sleep one time, it tells me "this is no time to sleep".... not sure how long it will take before it lets me sleep again.

Anyone with tips on how to deal with this?

I'm not sure of the time limit on merchant refresh, but until they reset, you could try using some of their services (like repair or identify) to put some gold back into their inventories, then sell some of your items and get the gold back.

Merchant inventories refresh after about 10 or 15 minutes real rime, depending on the NPC. If you check out the merchants in Ars Magicana, then head to Verdistis, then to the Dark Forest dwarven halls, the Ars Magicana merchants should have new inventories. That is what I did before heading to the wastelands, anyway, but check out the link below for an easier method.

If you quicksave before running your mouse over a merchant or hitting the alt key nearby, you can trade with them, and then quickload if they don't have very much gold. Merchants can hold on to some items you sell them, which stay at the top of the inventory list, so you may have to scroll down to check if they are changing, or not.
