If the majority of people actually cared about each other people around them, this world would have a lot of unemployed lawyers and insurance companies would probably go broke. Not to mention the lost jobs in forensic science.

Single platform would be nice. But lets take a look at IE6. MS didn't do a thing since it became dominant over Netscape. They just patched flaws as they were pointed out. Firefox came and competition forced MS to actually make a more secure browser. A single platform would be nice, but it would become too standardized and we wouldn't be advancing as rapidly.

Nvm.... wow that was nasty! Seriously, I've met people in the 40's at long distance foot races (marathons, half marathons) that told me they were in better shape at that age then when they were in their 20's.
