One question: how many rooms can you have in the tower? That's 'cos I'm sure some might prefer to customise it by adding more rooms so they can store other kinds of junk.

It'd be cool if the tower could be extended underground too. laugh Like... having your own secret laboratory or library. smile

It sounds like the rooms are 'as-is' and not dynamic (creating more). At least I hope, last thing I want is another game building and raising pets (npc's in this case). I usually end up killing pets off, if able to, in single player games.

Every time there I run into trouble on the road, there is always a dwarf at the bottom of it. Don't they know how to drive above ground?

Well, if they want to include that feature, they shouldn't make it compulsory but rather, leave it to the player to decide. smile

Agreed. I really don't like pets. Give me either a proper party or a solo character, not a 'worst of both worlds' option.

EK, by "pets", do you mean the "runners" they're talking about? Or pet animals/familiars that you're supposed to rear and attend to?

I like pets and additional party members, as long as neither are required to be successful at the game. The option to have either is a big plus in my book.

Additional party members are fun, because they (should) already have dynamic personalities that (can) affect how you make decisions and how the game plays out. They're also just fun to manage because using them allows you to try out different classes or builds or playing-styles within one game run-through. Think Baldur's Gate II, Dungeon Siege II, Planescape:Torment.

Pets are fun, whatever the means of developing them. To an extent, they fill the gap left when there are no other companions. Not that going it alone is bad thing - I don't really like multiplayer games at all, for example. I always eventually, if not at first, play with the pets available in any RPG - From the Necro and Druid from Diablo II to the summoning skills and dolls of the Larian games...Sacred, Titan Quest, Dungeon Siege II, pretty much every action RPG has them. I'm stoked to see the Frankenstein-creation style in Ego Draconis. I hope it's implemented well.

I also hope to see an additional party member or two added, if not for the game's duration then at least for some quests or battles.

The latter. I don't think I've ever seen runners in a game and they seem like a cool idea.

I've combined the information on the battle tower with 3 artwork images of parts of the tower. Check it out here.

I'd love to have a pet, my favourite standard RPG class is the Druid =/

I have a question: our little Frankestein will be made of boss parts, right? That means I can make something that ressembles a dragon? xP If the answer is yes, my joy will be epic \o/

I have a couple of questions. Will there be any message or notification when your runner has failed at his mission? Also, if he does fail, will you be able to stumble onto his corpse while playing through the game? I like the idea of finding the corpse, even without looking for it specifically, and thinking,"ah, that's what happened. Oh well, I got my equipment back at least." I really like the idea for the Battle Tower, it sounds like a lot of fun. I really like the idea of having a home base, especially one that you have to conquer first. Can't wait to play this game.

I'm new to this forum. But when I read about battle tower few questions and ideas immediately comes to my mind:

Defense bastions:

Aside from necromancy/alchemy etc. platforms, will there be also some defense bastions (equipped with balistas/scorpions or other war machinery)? Maybe I'm wrong but my idea is based upon official info - tower will be "ancient structure" and "player has to conquer it". So I imagine that the Tower (not from London :)) is part of some bigger defense ancient system and it served as protection against some monster race, maybe even dragons. So I would expect lines of walls, gates and towers (equipped with balistas) that protect cannyons, passes and key roads to the country. Main battle Tower could be just the base from which you can teleport to these outside lines of defense. Defense bastion armed with machinery has its crew ("platform dudes" as told in official info).

Imagine this quest - you got info that horde of enemies supported by dragons is going to attack your defense line.
1. You have to find area where they have been recently spotted (ask villagers/others), then scour the area, find them and watch them (probably from above in dragon form) to know where they are heading.
2. Then quickly prepare defense of that threatened point. Your task is to destroy ground forces - then dragons will run off. But they are strong supporters. So...
3a. Order crew in defense bastion to aim the dragons and shoot them. Then you will fight enemies that breach the wall or climb upon the castellation. You can succed when you concentrate on killing ground forces, but the dragons are very dangerous when you are in human form. Of course the crew will help you a little and hurt some dragons.
3b. Or you can shapeshift to dragon and attack all yourself. You will have more chances against dragons but you will be more directly attacked (by ground forces - archers, mages and dragons). And you wont have so clear view of the situation on the walls. Your dudes are weaker and can be defeated by enemies.
3c. Order crew in bastion to aim ground forces. Its dangerous because nobody will attack dragons but crew can help you to kill ground forces and win the fight before dragons will kill you.
3d. Alternate - You could crew balista yourself and shoot out some dragons or ground enemies and then defend walls in human/dragon form.

So decision is up to you. Does it sound interesting to have some defense fight vs dragons?

Battle tower quests:

Will there be some quests directly related to battle tower? I mean something like fixing broken machinery, repairing broken walls, exploring dungeon of the Tower etc.? I had one more intricate idea. Imagine that you mix some potion in alchemy platform, go off, fight some enemies, drink this potion and - what the hell is going on??? It poisoned you! And its getting worse with time! How it can be?
1. You have to prepare/find a cure for the poison. Sooner the better. (It can also be curse)
2. Return to battle tower, ask your dudes. Suddenyl they found out that one of the ingredients is tainted! A traitor! One of your dudes is traitor.
3. Try to catch your traitor by some clever way (for example you can mix some potion, leave it on the table, leave room and...)
4. You uncover that traitor is dominated by some strange power. It seems that there are hidden doors and it leads to unexplored dungeon under your alchemy platform. And strange is that it looks like dragon cave. But why would someone build alchemy platform above dragon cave? Was there something to hide? And who was the founder/builder of the platform? Nobody knows? Its also weird. Now you will slip into the mystery and start to solve this unexpected bigger quest...

Its just an example, but I think it could be interesting for have a traitor in player's battle tower. Most players would not expect that. What do you think? Could it be interesting quest in Ego Draconis? wink.

No answer to my post? I'm really interested how Larian shape whole "battle tower idea" because there is a lot öf potential in it. I think that defense bastions + fight with dragons (see my previous post) is also promising idea. Please, Lar, could you at least hint what do you have in mind with the battle tower? Will there be some quests directly related to battle tower, some defense fights like the one in previous post etc.? Could you give us some hints of what should we expect? Thanks. Your fans like to imagine what Divinity 2 could be.... hehe

Time enough? laugh

The whole tower thing is very interesting and has great potential. I hope it doesn't make the game too easy, though.

I just hope it won't make the game too fun. I'd hate that. And it sounds like it might. Could be terrible!
