Thanks for your patience - the config.div file was showing up as a DivX file (I have that programme on my computer). I've altered it to open with Notepad, so that's OK now. Whilst we've been corresponding, I've been looking ant the config.lcl file, my machine supports
ALL that's in there, and it's the same as the config.div file entries, so what I'll do if you agree is to put
ALL of those entries into the config div file (I'll back up the original just in case).
The will come the moment of truth, as I'm sure you'll agree, it's not going to be a 5 minute job. I've been using computers for over 15 years at home, and a lot longer than that at work, and if I've learnt anything in all that time it's this - take your time - it's far better to be sure than sorry.
Once I've done the modification, I'll put the file (I have 3 temp folders, one on each of the 3 drives and I'll do the work in one of those). Once it's finished and I've checked to make sure there are no nasty surprises apparent, I'll then transfer it to the main file set of Divine Divinity. Thanks for the cfg.zip file, at least that gave me an idea where to look!
Anyway, I'll get back to you, probable tomorrow or the next day and let you know how things went - though I have noticed in the config.lcl file the lines are set as:
Config.lcl
width 800
height 600
game rate 40 fps
music 1
smooth 1
ztunnel 1
memory limit 32
use8bitfont 1
quickstart "on"
images compressed
flat files
language 1
As I use 1024 x 768 resolution, the first 2 lines there
also need altering. Anyway, as I said, I'll let you know how I get on. As I intend to alter both files, I'll back up the present ones until I'm sure the system works - it may well be a good idea to back up the saves as well just to be on the safe side.
Honestly, I must admit, it's not often I get stumped with a problem like this, but then I do know that a lot of people like yourself will give advice to others if asked. After all is that not what forums are for - to talk and ask questions?
