You can download the trial version of Divinity from any game demo site like fileplanet. It will feel like Diablo at first as you go in the first dungeon. But you'll see that there are tons and tons of books and diaries from other npc's. Most of this stuff has nothing to do with the main storyline, but fun to read. Most of the game isn't in dungeons.
If you get the full game, be sure to look up and see how to get the Larian Armor (silver breastplate upgrade). Need a guide to get that as there are no hints in the game and Larian had to spoil the quest details for anyone to get it. The NPC's in that quest are hilarious.
