Larian said awhile ago they were targeting to have D2:ED run on Geforce 7800 video cards. Based on this
mobile graphics card list, I think you will likely have a problem.
Unfortunately, laptop graphics are very rarely upgradable, and I don't think anything that starts off with integrated video would have that option. The CPU and memory should be upgradable (unless they are already maxed), but they are not really part of the problem, so it wouldn't help much upgrading them.
