I don't think Larian is about to go bankrupt... not before 'late summer', anyway.

They have (or at least had) other projects on the go (
KetnetKick, etc), though I assume they have been concentrating on D2:ED for awhile. IIRC before or during early development of DD they did some programming for pinball machines, etc to pay the bills. Of course that is kind of irrelevant to your comment of the current state of the gaming industry, but being at least partly self-funded, Larian is not as susceptible to some of the problems developers can face.
Did you try Beyond Divinity? Just curious... it falls into the 'new game since DD' category.
