Just to make it clear: There's no need to start the game all over when applying the patch. Most fixes are smaller fixes and the really important ones are compatible with previous savegames. However, if you haven't played yet, you're advised to start playing *after* applying the patch, as you'll take advantage of more tweaks and fixes.
