It does help, you see it crashes in NxCharacter.dll and/or PhysXCore.dll
I would try re-installing and re-registering the PhysX drivers that the game needs. Run these files off the game DVD:
[DVDROMDRIVE]:\Support\PhysX\PhysX_9.09.0428_SystemSoftware.exe
[DVDROMDRIVE]:\Support\Larian\PhysXRegInstaller.exe
It's the first thing I want to get out of the way so that we're sure it has nothing to do with that.
