Game crashes when I enter buildings in "Tr�mmerd." #374978 05/08/09 08:47 PM

OP Zidster stranger Z Joined: Aug 2009	Hello, i bought game today and now I'm really upset because the game crashs when I want to enter ANY building in the first town (in german: Tr�mmerfeld, where you must find informations about the first dragon). I try to enter, the loading screen appears and then theres a black screen. I still hear the sound but then an error message appears (not one of the divinity console). It is the simple Windows "Program ABC has discovered a problem and must close"-error message. What ever, I guess it has something to do with the Nvidia Card, because most people having these kind of problems have one too). I updated my drivers and everything. Did follow 99% of the advices in this forum. Any ideas, anyone? At the end of the post I added my "dxdiag.log" Now in german Hallo, habe das Spiel heute gekauft. Wenn ich in Tr�mmerfeld ein Geb�ude betrete, st�rzt das Game ab. Es l�dt normal, dann krieg ich nen schwarzen Bildschirm und die Standard-Windoof-Fehlermeldung "Programm ABC hat einen Fehler und muss beendet werden" oder so �hnlich. Ich glaube es hat was mit der Nvidia GraKa zu tun, weil die meisten die Gamecrashs haben auch ne nvidia benutzen. Treiber etc. sind alle up2date, habe ca. 99% der Tipps / Anweisungen bei solchen Problemen aus dem Forum befolgt, aber das hat alles nix genutzt. Ich kenne mich zwar nicht besonders aus in Sachen Hardware, aber wenn das Spiel erstmal l�uft (auf h�chsten Details auch noch relativ fl��ig), kann man die Hardware generell wohl ausschlie�en. Oder? Und wenn es sowas simples w�re, h�tte das bestimmt jmd. mit 100% Gewissheit sagen k�nnen Evtl. gibt es in den indoor areas irgendetwas, das zu meinem System eben nicht 100% kompatibel ist, seis nur eine Textur oder irgendein Effekt. Ich kriege eben leider gar kein Fehlerreport von Divinity 2, was es vermutlich auch den Entwicklern erschwert, hier Hilfe zu leisten. Gibt es irgendeine M�glichkeit (vllt. ein Tool, eine regdatei, irgendwas) den Fehler zu protokollieren? Irgendwo muss ja ne Information gespeichert werden, wo genau es den Probleme gibt. Danke jedenfalls f�r die Antwort und auch die vielen Views

You only have one gigabyte of memory. Your graphics card only has 128MB of memory (which it may steal off of your system memory). And a GeForce 7 is also pretty low. Those facts, plus the fact that it's all "laptop hardware" (always a bit slower than their desktop counterparts), will have an influence on your gaming experience... 1. Try playing on a very low resolution like 800x600 with lowest graphical settings. You can try going up once you've found that something works, and see how far you can go. 2. That may be the latest driver that officially came out for that card, but graphics drivers for laptops are seldom kept up to date. Drivers of half a year old are, well, really old. Try a newer driver from websites such as http://www.laptopvideo2go.com (they are not official, but have helped laptop gamers a lot)

I can not imagine it is a major hardware problem because outdoor areas, videos, conversations, fights etc. work pretty well - until I need to enter a building. I really dont think anything on my laptop is causing this problem - except that DVD in my diskdrive EXACTLY the same error occured on other systems (like user Shuriken in this forum) On this system was also a nvidia card - so this might by the root aswell... In that same thread, forum member guitar found out he had to remove 1 module of RAM and the game would run perfectly. (Again, hardware related.) In same thread, naix reinstalled the game and now it works. Maybe points to DirectX not being properly installed, or any of the other necessary softwares. There is therefore a big chance that the error you are experiencing is being caused by something else than the game code. There may be a hardware problem or a driver issue, or a software issue. It is not easy to rule out what exactly is causing the problem because this is different for everybody. We cannot "fix your computer" in a patch.

If there was a sound problem, deactivating the sound card would properbly have fixed it. I have no driver issues or something else because my computer is in top condition. I'm the one of ten gamers who acctualy cares about his system and does not ruin it by overwriting drivers or something else that can cause problems. I'm sorry for my rude language in my last post. I had a very bad day and felt even worse. I got home and thought to my self "several hours have passed, maybe there is some new advice i can try on to run this game" but than the empty emptiness in this thread killed me, so i passed out. Sorry for that, it's not meant personal. I'm just glad that i ordered the game on amazon. I think there is a piece of hardware that is incompatible with the game or with SecuROM, or that one of the required software installations is not properly installed. I postet the error message given by windows, and as said: There is absolutely NO thing I didn't try, which was posted in this whole forum. The drivers / software came with the DVD and also the game itself were deinstalled / installed at least 3 times. Also all the drivers for my hardware were updated. look: my point is just that I can't imagine it is a hardware problem because there is NO! repeat: NO problem in any other part of the game. I read through this forum, there are problems with the equip menue, saving menue, conversation loading and a lot of other stuff - varity of problems and error message is a indicator for lousy work - in my opinion. Hardware problems usually indicate thereself by not running the gaming proper, not starting, major graphical or audio problems which make the game unplayable etc etc. I had loads of other hardware problems in my gaming live and whenever one appeared - on the first look I knew: AHA! This is because of my lousy graphic card. or whatev. But: I'm still really interessted in playing the game, so If you give me an advice on how to tackle this problem or how to help you helping me, just let me know.

So it's much like finding a needle in a haystack. And as you've tried all the other solutions that helped other people, I will ask the programmers on Monday what they think could cause this. There's only two things I can make up from your dxdiag file: your soundcard drivers are three years old, try updating them. If Toshiba doesn't provide newer drivers, check the website of the soundchip manufacturer directly. The dates on your DirectX files are old. Now I know the dates and version numbers in DirectX don't say anything (thank you Microsoft), but please do try to update DirectX (again if necessary) using the DirectX web-installer: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=de After running the dxwebsetup application, and before starting the game, you may want to empty this folder in Div2's installation path: \Divinity 2\Shaders\Generated\ In itself, it is not so strange that you can play the outside region and not the inside region, because there are some differences in the way that stuff is rendered on the inside locations.

TetrisLame stranger T Joined: Aug 2009	I have the same problems. But i have a "High-End" PC. I Think its a problem with nvidia graphic-cards. My brother play the Game too with a ATI and he has no problems. Hope thats help you to fix it
