You also have the same error message as Leviathan, who found out in
this thread that it was his soundcard (or driver) that was causing the problem.
In that same thread, forum member guitar found out he had to remove 1 module of RAM and the game would run perfectly. (Again, hardware related.)
In same thread, naix reinstalled the game and now it works. Maybe points to DirectX not being properly installed, or any of the other necessary softwares.
There is therefore a big chance that the error you are experiencing is being caused by something else than the game code. There may be a hardware problem or a driver issue, or a software issue. It is not easy to rule out what exactly is causing the problem because this is different for everybody.
We cannot "fix your computer" in a patch.
