Lol this happened to me in Divinity 1. I just deleted the saved game since I played only until blowing up the Orc camp and restarted. Went out for a better plan in how to do things.

Every time there I run into trouble on the road, there is always a dwarf at the bottom of it. Don't they know how to drive above ground?
