Is there any benefit from upgrading the platforms? Except the skill trainer which upped max level to 13 when upgraded, I can't see any new thing/benefit to the other platforms....

There are, yes! I'll quote the English hints:

- Upgrading your Workshop will decrease the number of gems and ores needed to enchant equipment.
- Upgrading your Alchemy Garden will decrease the number of ingredients needed to brew potions.
- Upgrading your Necromancy Ring will boost your Creature's melee or magic resistance depending on who you choose to serve you.
- Upgrading your Skill Trainer Arena will allow you to train beyond your current skill caps.

I have Radcliff as my Enchanter and from what I get from the forums you can
upgrade his workshop a second time. How and when can you do it??

I can't undo my choice's this time but my next playthrough I will choose differently.

Regarding the second upgrade, you can do it right after the first upgrade (when you're speaking w/ Sassan about upgrading your workshop). You have the options of upgrading armor, weapons, or jewelery enchantments. After you make your first choice, you can tell Sassan that you want to upgrade your workshop [again]-- you're given the options again. I've chosen to upgrade weapons and armor, I think-- I don't know if you can "double upgrade" a single thing (say, upgrade weapons twice), but I'd assume so with the options being available.

Thanks for the reply .. .. . I finally got it right.

You can Enchant, Un-enchant, and Re-enchant any weapon, armor, ring etc. as many times as you want. You can partially enchant an item that has three slots with one enchantment and then add the other two enchantments later. You can't actually upgrade an item though.

The thing you have to watch is putting charms in an item as they can't be removed. I held my best charms until late in the game and then used them.

Did you know when you un-enchant an item you learn that enchantment? Saves you from having to buy weapon/armor/jewelry enchantments! I love that feature.

You're right (to avoid confusion for any other readers) that you can't upgrade your items-- it's upgrading the platform I was referring to. That can only be done if you complete the platform person's request (example, Radcliff sends you to get some sort of 'gem'; not as easy as it seems and you have to make a choice: 1) keep the 'gem' to give to Radcliff so you can upgrade, or 2) trade the 'gem' to get two Malachite gems. I do quite a bit of enchanting, so I personally give the 'gem' to Radcliff.

I discovered the downside of enchanting when all of a sudden my six Malachite gems (a very beautiful mineral color especially when mixed with azurite) ended up as just one. Gems were just one downsides of enchanting.

I also gave the 'gem' to Radcliff to open up better enchantments and it was worth it. I was a bit disappointed with the enchantments for belts, rings, bangles etc.

I also liked your signature. We even have more lives than a cat or a whole litter of kittens.

The level 9 enchantments are almost as good as level 10 ones but do not need a malachite gem, so that was generally as high as I went. The exception to this is the healing aura on jewelry, which always requires a malachite gem, so I only used the level 10 enchantment (a bit of reloading and some luck got me the level 10 formula from Dreavan's cellar).

There is only 3 points difference on weapons if I remember right between level 9 and 10.

I didn't realize it but I used 5 of my 6 for those extra 3 points damage. I foolishly did
not pay attention to the ingredients being used. I had later checked my chest in the tower
only to discover that I had only one Malachite Gem left.

I think I sold most of the early ones I either found or got not knowing they would be useful
later on as they brought a good price for equipment. The funny thing is I did not miss them
once I found out about their use. I was doing basically nines then anyway.

I wonder how many people know that malachite is not a gem but is a green mineral carbonate
of copper. Malachite is one of my favorite green minerals because of it's rich color and is
often found in combination with azurite which makes for a very pretty green/blue specimen
especially when still mixed with some of the surrounding rock. The combination polishes up
quite well when tumbled making for an attractive display piece and is occasionally used in
ornamental stoneware.

I still have about six specimens from my collection. People interested should google it and
see some spectacular pieces.
