hey,

is there any way to un-charm an item once you applied a charm to it or is the process permanent?

Note: I refer to charms *not* enchants

No, charms are permanent, but you can enchant and disenchant as much as you like (provided you have the money and materials wink ).

Nope, that's why I've been saving my +5 charms for where I'm at right about now.
