Well the game isn't easy. Monsters like to "dog pile" on you and do it very well. If playing as a warrior, you need a little dexterity to use a bow. Just not worth rushing in to be surrounded by mages or archers.
Even as the dragon, you can find yourself dead pretty quickly.
Some areas you gotta really think, "how the hell do I wanna kill all these off now?"
