And it really begins to piss me off how the Larian staff keeps commenting on some of the threads here and post some good scores from game review websites - but keeps the ENGLISH RELEASE DATE threads as a taboo, while that is actually the most important thing we all fans are waiting for. I'm really looking forward for , I remember that when a user was asking for an ENGLISH release date - every regular user here told him "wait for september".. well, now it's past that and the game still doesn't have any official release date. I really appreciate that some people from Larian studio reply to the forum's questions, it's important to show that you hear what the players have to say, but really.. what's the big deal to announce an OFFICIAL release date at this stage? right now is my most anticipated game, but if it won't be released anytime soon I'm gonna buy some other games instead (and you all know that these days we got quite a few..), so it ends up that instead of saving my money for I'm gonna spend it on other games (Uncharted 2, Tekken 6, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Risen.. etc..) Look, all I'm asking from Larian is to throw us a bone and give us an official release date for the english version, an official release date would make me (and I'm sure I'm not the only one here) save some money for Oh and please.. I don't want any regular users comments about a PRESUMED release date again.. I'm not going to fall for that twice I'm looking for a reply from Larian, thanks.

I don't believe your title. If you'd have been reading this forum, you wouldn't post this, 'cause you'd know release dates are not Larian's territory.
And if you don't want users replying to your posts in a *ahem* discussion forum... Perhaps you should think about sending an e-mail?

I don't care about assumptions, NOW you guys ASSUME that the game is gonna be released until december, yet we don't have any official word from Larian.
swordscythe, I'm sorry.. but you knowing about Larian's territory is doubtful, I don't like it when some people here think they know something about the game and give false information that only the Larian team actually knows, I will repeat this again - I'm asking for an official answer from Larian.
And from my personal experience you get the old and official "beat around the bush" kind of reply when you send an Email, I hope it won't happen here.

Well you have a PR sent by the Publisher. Thats should be enough! Holiday Season 2009. If Larian say anything now they know we'll turn round and blame them. Its better for the Publisher to have a final date set then they'll comment on it...

Regular user here.
Release dates are crap.
Buy some other games that are out now if you want them.
Buy Ego Draconis when it comes out. If you can't save enough money for a game or two now and one game in the future, maybe you shouldn't be buying games.

I can't say "every", but the reason most regulars on here said September is that some time ago, that was the non-debunked (by Larian, or a publisher) target date. That came and gone. As others have said in this very post:
A) Larian has nothing to do with the release date now that they have a U.S. publisher in place
and
B) The publisher has announced via 'official PR statement' that Holiday Season is the target.
Larian is not going to say anything different. Expecting forumites not to post in a, hello, FORUM, is pretty silly. You have your answers, you just choose not to (want to) believe/listen/pay attention to them.
Is reality just a fantasy?

So. NOW you know by experiencing it through your own body how it is like to be waiting AS AN EUROPEAN FOR A LOCALIZED GAME ! English-language releases are usually first, most and better than local variants. Atari, for example, who publishs NWN here in Germany, never bothered to translate the NWN1 commercial, downloadable modules of Bioware into one package - similar to the "Diamond" release of NWN1 for the English-language market. You are acting like a child being used to Luxury - the Luxury of having all games first, and best patched. Why bother people in some small countries speaking some nonunderstandable languages wanting some games, too ? And even in their own languages ? You are argueing from the point of view of somone who is used to be delivered first, first and foremost ! You don't care about people in other countries suffering delayed releases of fantastic games while the rest of the world laughs at them, points at them, saying "you still haven't got it ?"

Lol.. English is something like universal internet language.. Its not my native, but I learned that cause I want to comunicate with other ppl via net.. and play games ofc. Why should I restrict myself only to my language and my country?
Thats pretty backward thinking..
I´m for English ONLY releases. World would be better place if all ppl could understand each other..

I´m for English ONLY releases. World would be better place if all ppl could understand each other.. I'm German. I know English as well. And the better I become in the English language, the more proud I become of my own language ! English-only releaes would restrict the game to only those who have learned the English language in their own countries - and don't forget: That's not all ! A few frriends I know are excellent Musicians plus they are very good in Mathematics, too ... - and they have never learned English ! You say you want English-only releaes. This makes me believe you have never learned why The LOrd Of THe Rings exists : Because Tolkien originally wanted a background culture for his own invented Language, Quenya ! He firmly believed that every language needs its own culture - because a language without its culture is nothing. I go with the belief that the thing is also valid vice versa. So, saying that the world needs only one language is like saying : Forget all of your own cultures and combine them into one ! Into the ENglish culture, maybe ! And people will not be willing that, because this would mean to lose their (cultural) identity. And THIS is the reason why I find it so disturbing that Belgian people seemingly do *not* want games in their own languages !

So. NOW you know by experiencing it through your own body how it is like to be waiting AS AN EUROPEAN FOR A LOCALIZED GAME ! Hold your horses Alrik. He said nothing about Germany getting it before the rest of the world, nor did he complain about that. His point is valid, although it should not be aimed at Larian Studios but at DTP. They are seriously making a mess of things. Claas Wolter publicly mentioned the release date would be September in a video interview at E3. That has been changed by DTP at a later stage to "Fall 2009" (and fall is from September 21 to December 21). Apparently a publishing deal has still not been finalized yet for the English version (besides the US), otherwise something would have been announced.

I don't get the fuss. We've been patiently waiting for this thing for YEARS. Why is it suddenly so urgent to know the exact release date right now?
Larian will give us a date when they have one for definite. They always have. If they kept giving us false dates when they didn't really know and were only guessing, that would be pretty annoying, but they don't. I prefer the way they do things now, thanks.
Markets change. Publishers alter their ideas of just when a game should be released. Stuff happens. Yelling at Larian for things they have no control over is a bit pointless, don't you think?
Look at it this way: a later release means a more patched up and more instantly playable game. That can't be a bad thing, right?

People won´t forget their culture when they use different language..
Even English is adapted by its useres different ways. But its better world with different English versions, than world, where not many ppl understand each other..
On other hand, I´m not much bothered on some stupid things like patriotism, cultural identity etc. Live and let live.. Its pretty worthless, cause humankind will never ever learn from its mistakes, so theres no need to remember some history, we will make same mistakes sooner or later again..

Its pretty worthless, cause humankind will never ever learn from its mistakes, so theres no need to remember some history, we will make same mistakes sooner or later again.. A chain is only as strong as it's individual links, same goes for humankind, as a whole is only as strong as it's individuals. Unlike links, humans NEED to identify themselves, they do that by the obvious physical trademarks, but also by personality, taste in films, music, books and other people. People, individuals are defined by whom they know, are friends, are family with. Who they like and dislike etc... People with common definitions such as music band together, as much as ppl with the same geopgraphical placement do. It's what we call communities. Communities are much like people, they are living things that evolve, and grow. What a community, or a person is, is as much a indification of itself of what it was. History, cultural identification are important to humanity as its whole, a long rant to come to this one point, even if we all spoke the same theoretical language, a community on the other side of the world would eventually have grown that language to something of their own you won't understand anyway. With globalisation this migh not be as harsh as it happened in the past (as in prehostoric times we used all the same gutteral grunts to communicate...) but one unifying global language is an ideal that is against our nature.
It's one of these days...

Well, if I take Chinese as example.. Chines from north, don´t understand spoken world from south China.. but both has same written language (along with Japanese if I´m correct..). It is inevitable, world will sooner or later use same language.. I hope it will be English and not Chinese. (FireFly.. anyone saw that TV series?) Btw. theres plenty of things against our nature.. "peace" for example.

Funny how you compare (which we KNOW is already finished..) to other games which we know are clearly not even close to be finished. And that's exactly the point, if it's finished.. what's the big deal to announce the official date?

I would guess - and it is JUST a guess - that there's no official announcement because there is no official publisher for those regions, yet. Don't forget that few if any games are published globally by the same company and so a different publisher must often be found for each region. Which means a different deal for each publisher. These things take time.
