Glad to see that Divine Divinity 2 is finally coming out. However, I am still curious about some aspects of the game and the official site does not answer those questions. So here goes:
1) Is this a action hack and slash game with RPG trappings, or is each blow subjected to a to-hit roll?
2) Does skills from the character influence the dragon, or is the dragon considered as one 'build' and the human form another 'build'?
3) Item customization via charm?
4) Did the composer for the first Divine Divinity reprise his role in the game (I loved his music)
Thanks!

AFAIK the background combat mechanics have not been described. There is a bit of discussion on stats, skills, damage bonuses, etc in the topic Character Optimization. I don't know if there is any crossover (don't think so), but human and dragon forms each have their own skills and equipment. Equipment can be enchanted, but I don't know about charms. Yes, Kirill Pokrovsky did the music for D2:ED as well.

1) As long as you're aiming at, or locked on to, something you're pretty much sure to hit it. That goes for spells, bows and melee. Sometimes you'll miss, but that's either simply bad luck or that the enemy evades. The damage done, however, is dependent on many different stats on both sides.
2) Dragon and Character are different, except that the hit points and mana of the human form influences those of the dragon. So the higher level you are, the more mana and hit points you have in either form. If you're hurt in dragon form, you'll also be hurt in human form when you change back. Dragon form rapidly regenerates mana but doesn't regenerate hit points (though there is a spell for that). Human form slowly regenerates both, though this can be accelerated through various means.
3) You can find "charms" that give you, for example, +2 to intelligence. Once you use a charm, that's it - it is stuck and used forever. Items have a certain number of charm slots ranging from none to several. There are also "enchantment" slots on certain equipment. You can enchant and disenchant equipment as much as you like, assuming you have the right formula and required ingredients.

Okay, so it is an action game with RPG-trappings, kind-of like Prototype? Anyway, thanks for the answer!

I didn't play prototype, but from what I've seen I'd say "no". Divinity has a story, it has a backdrop, it has lore. It has quests and interaction with people in the world. Your choices are not always black and white and there are some interesting outcomes. You can not necessarily "complete" all quests for example, as your choices may preclude some quests from finishing.
I guess I don't like to shoehorn games into any particular type. It is what it is, and I'm sure it isn't Prototype =)

True, more accurately to say that 'the combat is like Prototype'. Or rather,is the gameplay's style like Oblivion? (At least DD2 is not FPS. I tend to dislike action FPS RPG, like Fallout 3 and Oblivion)

The animation is great for your main char, at least the female lead. I didn't try male, so I cannot comment on that one. Movement is also very good. Your character is very acrobatic and can jump quite high and far. Basically you move around the screen as you like. If you are in position to hit someone - then you will, unless they evade, but if you're facing the wrong way then you won't. Pretty simple. How much damage you dish out is determined by all the rpg stats and skills. There is a degree of lock on involved, especially with spells and archery. Some spells will fly straight at a target and miss if the target moves. Some spells will home in on a target. You cannot fire at an arbitrary spot on the ground. If you shoot arrows, with no target locked on, the arrows are simply shot straight ahead. Most damage spells need a target to activate at all.
I don't remember Oblivion fondly at all. I quit after I found out leveling had the opposite effect - namely making me weaker rather than stronger. What a shitty game.
I don't know if there is a demo available, otherwise check out some gameplay videos. Having people describe what the game is like is almost a disservice, when the best way of experiencing it is trying yourself. Keep in mind the combat can be played in several ways, from cautious and afar to right in the middle of things.

Combat is bit like Oblivion, only with much cooler animations, but less ability to control attacks.. (eg. you cant make much different attacks). But its ok.. Its more RPG, than anything else.. just after 3/4 it sux a bit.. Edit: And end is bit.. unexpected. Jeez, its really necessary to make games like "life"..

Combat is bit like Oblivion [...] Umm... mmm... LOL? Are you sure you have played Dininity 2, not some TES4 modification? I failed to see how the game battle system is related with the Oblivion's one. Really, completely failed. Maybe that's because it is not...
