AFAIK the procedures in the topic
Hex editing - gold, experience, stat/skill points still work find in 1.49 for stat/skill points, etc (not sure about gold). If that's what you tried I can double check the procedure, but I'm pretty sure I've used it successfully since the 1.47/1.49 patch.
If Larian had a problem with cheating, or stuff that could be used to cheat, I'd have been banned long ago.
