Ah, yea you are right.. I haven´t checked if its true about Risen engine or not. smile Dunno where I read that..

Yes, Oblivion can be very "eye-candy" when you download lots of graphical mods.. and also nicely power-hungry. laugh

Unfortunately, i bought Witcher EE 2 weeks ago and it simply doesnt work well with an ATI 5870 card. There is a bunch of graphical corruption/artifacts due to some driver bugs, waiting for some new driver fixes i guess.

One game engine that realy disapointed me was Dragon Age. I know its a game that has strenghts in a lot of other areas, but i do believe a game shipped in 2009 should have some extra eye candy, especialy on close-ups. (Blood splats in close ups are realy funky also).

GameBryo is simply the best and easiest to use engine for huge open worlds like Morrowind/Oblivion/Fallout 3.

Witcher uses a rewritten Aurora engine but this engine is... crap, to say the least. Witcher was CPU based too and not optimized for multicore so it ran very badly on my PC even though I had an excellent GPU.

Witcher was an excellent game, but far from a technical masterpiece..

Indeed, but still, it was far prettier than Oblivion in terms of textures and animation. Its performance was just foul, but that was the same with Neverwinter Nights 2, which suffered the same performance problems but also had awful graphics on top of it. Oblivion may be very detailed, but in terms of animation and character models, it was extremely awkward, and in terms of scenery, it was appallingly boring. Quite the opposite of Morrowind, at that, which had beautiful scenery.

Anyway, there is no reason to use new engine for ep2.
