either blacksmith you do you can still get the magical damage upgrade you can find other weapons with up to 100 magical damage dissenchant them then put them on the weapon of your choice
but i preferred using
igor for the necro
hermosa skill trainer
barbatos alchemist
and the husband wife couple for blk smith
the dunken blacksmith annoyed me with he drinking comments everytime i tried to enchant something

Wesson's wife is also a little annoying; fortunately you can use the enchantment machines yourself, and only need to talk to the blacksmith for the runners' equipment and platform upgrade quests.

I quite like her myself, they're a nice couple. Just one of those random little touches that adds a lot to the game.

Here is who I go with:

Wesson: Two quests and two skills books
Hermosa: Two quests and two skills books
Barbatos: Two quests and two skill books
Igor: Is just cool plus two skill books

Not everyone gives you two skill books and skills are king. I also believe you get slightly more XP from these quests (not the rewards for completion as they are all the same).
