I've slain Barnabus and I've been using his mace ever since. It's easily and by far the best weapon i've come accross in the game.

I thought his ring was to be proof of his death, but actually it turns out to be his mace!!
I do want to complete the hunter's quest, as it delivers 100GS achievement, but i also do not want to loose the mace. Is there a way I can have both? At at what point in the game will I not be able to go back to turn in the quest ?

For now, I'll hang on the mace and not turn in the quest...

-shocked-

I will, but I'm afraid i will not find anything that good. I've tried various weapons, but all just don't have that same massive damage. Since I'm a STR build warrior, I need weapons with high non magickal damage.

I'll keep looking smile

Yeah, I believe Barnabus' mace was the best weapon I found in the game. I hadn't read that I had to give in his weapon, so suddenly when I finished that quest I found myself without a main hand. I was pretty dismayed, had to buy one from the smith at the harbour. I found a couple of good 1h weapons, one of them legendary (bought it in High Hall I think), but I do think I still would've used Barnabus' at the end of the game if I'd had it. Too many weapons with intelligence requirements/bonuses. Very annoying for purebred melee'ers.

thats why you dont build pures? many wepons can be much much beter if you just hit your int a bit up, im using the sword i got from freeing the pupil of the dragon slayer that you can chouse as your treiner after the first quest, i hit in the higher 100s at lvl 25, evru single crit i had was in the higher 300s. Also the two Damina doods in the bunker on the clif sell a very nifty battle ax for about 5k and there is a very good 1h sword for a quest reword in the villige where you had to kill the trolls (there is a merchent there, mind read him)

that last sword is the one with the intelligence bonus thingy.

And I don't really know the math on what bonuses you get. You really can't prove that a jack-of-all-trades is better without that math, because Strength nets you a lot of melee bonuses, so if you're a melee fighter, strength is pretty important.

If you do know the math, please post it here so I can improve my build.

I'm no stranger to DPS wink. Crits don't mean much in a pve game. DPS is far more important. I did the math back when I played WoW, was the highest DPS rogue on my server. Give me the math and I'll give you the build with most DPS.

Isn't the Mace of Ultimate Good/Evil better than Barnabus' mace?

The nice thing is, that a mage with high Int can do as much damage (wihtout active skills) with a magical sword than a strength-based warrior with a str-based sword.

I don't think so. I had it, didn't use it for too long I believe. Was kinda miffed about all the maces though. Too few 1h swords =/ I'm picky

And yes yes, mages are better than warriors. That's because if they're not, mages complain about the difficulty. mages; girls, warriors; men. :P
