If you have not done so already, try a different optical drive (or different computer), if available. A different drive by be better able to read the DVD, or better at error correction.
I don't have the game yet, but if those files are too large to email (or upload to a site like
RapidShare or
Megaupload), a program like
ICE ECC may be able to help. If someone with the same version of the game uses the program on their DVD to create some error correction data for whatever archive/install file(s) the problem texture files are contained in (or the files directly if they are not compressed), you may be able to recover those files off your DVD with relatively little data being exchanged.
There is a
third party texture mod for D2:ED. If you don't mind the download size (1GB), that would probably fix your problem playing the game.
