One can't compare to Dragon Age because Div 2 is not a party-based game. The main task of a warrior in DA is to keep the mobs away from mages & rogue, not to kill enemies.
Div 2 is perfectly playable for a pure melee character. Just invest in passive skills like regenerate, life leech & bleed instead of active skills (whirlwind doesn't need more than 1 point) and you should be able to kill everything without problems eventually.
But yes, mages & rangers are much more powerful & easier to play in Div 2.
In my case it is a party-based game. lol. I have 2 creatures with me all the time.
Even in heavy melee games like Gothic maxed out bow was a better weapon choice.
Passive skills are always a better choice at higher lvls as long as u have correct active.
