Is it possible to get all achievements (Xbox 360) even though you play the game at the easiest difficulty?

P.S.: I know I can find descriptions of the achievements on different sites around the internet, but I don't want to read the secret achievements' descriptions and thereby spoiling the story line.

I have googled it for you.
There is no mention that difficulty of the game has any influonce on the achievements.
Total 41 achievements can be unlocked giving a total of 1000 points.

What are the points gain through achievement meant for?

Good question!

I know they keep a leader board online,
but i do not know what you can do with the saved points.
Probably nothing.

Achievement points can only be used for comparing yourself with other gamers. Usually a retail game has 1000 achievement points which can be unlocked. DLC can then add to that - as an ex. Mass Effect has 1000 point for being a retail game and 2 DLCs add 200 to that bringing it to a 1200 total.

Having maxed a game's achievements tell other gamers that you have played and completed more or less all that the game has to offer.

BTW: Do not mistake Achievement point for Microsoft points which are used for buying DLC online.

O, I thing it's more a kind of a competition between Xbox360 Live players:
To play their Xbox-games and find all achievements or at least at most points

But I personal don't find these achievements not important ... I go for the game itself, Divinity II, to fully enjoy this game
But for those who interessed it: I'm on Level 20 and I have now 215 points/1000 or something in that order I play on 'easy'.
