Hey guys, I'm considering to download the game from http://game.gamesplanet.com because
1. it's the fastest means to get it and
2. it's the cheapest way to buy it.

But I have a couple questions before I do that. I often heard of problems with digital downloads via Steam and especially with patches. Some games had pretty bad issues. So, since you play digital downloads without a disc, the exe is clearly a different one than the retail version. Does this mean that the official patches cannot be applied and one has to hope for the best that the seller will provide the modified patch? That would be quite unsettling, because I've tried the game and I've seen that a patch is VERY neccessary. So I'd really like to be able to use the upcomming patch that is supposed to bring all game versions to the same status.

Plus, there's no manual (yet..?) and the game is not quite self explanatory enough. And yes, I noticed that someone here tried to find a manual, but wasn't successful. Google isn't helpful, either. And since it is not on the cd, which is odd, I very much doubt that it's included in the download file. So it would be nice if they provided it here.

And lastly, are savegames between different versions compatible?
