Is there anything in particular wrong with Securom.... other than being developed by Sony?
The only problems I've heard of have been with online activation, limited activations or requiring repeated activations (which the publishers back down from). Stupid, anti-consumer options are certainly not a surprise coming from Sony, but if the copy protection can be configured to avoid most of that, I don't have a big problem with it (at least when the alternative is pretty much giving up on PC gaming).

It would be nice if publishers didn't focus on anti-piracy measures to the point of causing problems for some or all of their customers. Avoiding any implementation of a copy protection system is a little tough, though, when it seems publishers all get together to adopt whatever the latest and greatest system is (which turns out to be more evil than the last one).
