Like Sonic the Hedgehog? He's been going strong for years and that had a bad ending. Dr. Robotnick got away in the first game on Sega Genisis back in the 1980's. You want a cuddly wuddly ending to make you feel all warm and fuzzy?
Ending in 1st game
You'r suppose to murder Damian as a baby, the main character cannot do that and instead walks off while Zandelor watches.
Ending in 2nd Game
You aid Damian out of hell only to be thrown back yourself. I've yet to play threw the 2nd game but will be doing so when I get more time.
And plenty of movies have bad endings like The Perfect Storm and Final Destination. Besides, I want the stage set for Divinity 3. As for your efforts being useless, did you not have fun murdering the other bosses? I had fun slowly killing a giant bunny with arrows and it slowly died in pain and misery.
