Dragon has healing skills as like human form, but with alot longer cool down duration. Check your dragon skill list.
Beside you can always turn back to human to regain health and turn again into dragon to fight again if the condition allows. Also always take down the ballista first before going for the nest. They are alot more annoying and its easy to take them down. You can leave the flying mob to the last. That what I usually do.

As ACSS mentioned, you need to use the dragons healing skill. Put a couple of skill points into that skill.,..you will get dragon skill points from books you find. I found playing in dragon form needed a real change in tactics for me. I tend to fly in short bursts, keeping an eye on my automap for enemies. When I see them I try to also find places nearby that I can use for cover, such as trees or corners or cliffs. I then try to take out any single dragons that are close. Once they are gone and I have fully replenished my hp I nose dive for the nest and hit it with my Fire Sphere and Fire breath. Once the nests are destroyed I find it a lot easier to then retreat and replenish my hp and then attack the ballista whereas ACSS said he prefers to take out ballista first. I guess its all a matter of player technique. Good luck.....you are in what I think is a very frustrating part of the game. edit: Move around a bit....you just need an open area to change to a dragon. Even though it says you cannot change you should try walking around to another part. Just keep pressing Q till you change. ACSS's advice was not useless.....what was useless was that your original post did not mention your new problem. In fact I am still unsure what exactly is your problem. Are you saying you want to change back to human form?

dude i was in ur shoes yesterday
basically u don't need to destroy everything in that mission, so only necessary to destroy a few towers and a dragon and even though u have very little health it can be done.
I also thought it was impossible, and frustrated, then it turned out i only had to destroy a bit.
Hide behind the tower, save game, come out and destroy a tower, preferably not getting hurt (or a little), come back and save game. This way it's just down to randomness and persistence!
Use potions if u have to, but u shudnt need to

Even for the 1st battle after killing laiken, there shouldnt be much problem in dragon form. You can always fly out from the attack range of balista to recover your health, and you should at least had 1 dragon skill point with you if you do not miss the dragon skill book that time, where you can invest in healing skill.

Even for the 1st battle after killing laiken, there shouldnt be much problem in dragon form. I disagree. When you get to change into a dragon you are thrown right into a very hectic battle complete with instant death force fields. You have to try and get used to your character now flying and the new skills very quickly. Apart from the short dream sequence way back in the game where you controlled yourself as a dragon, you get no training in fighting as a dragon. Unlike the start of the game where you can spend as much time as you like trying melee, ranged and magic attacks.

Well unless you really never playing any flight sim game before, I dont think that 1st battle is any big problem. You just need to control you dragon well to avoid majority attack. If you can find that 1st battle being so tough, then you might need to cry while venture back broken valley later in dragon form as well as in flying fortress where there hell lot more attacks coming from different angles. To me the air battle is actually more enjoyable

I didn't find this battle hard at all, just don't fly straight at things and even while breathing fire, strafe left or right to avoid being hit. The Dragon skill which auto hits your enemy is extremely good at taking down enemy fliers.

Okay ... I have the bad habit sometimes the messages to read quickly and then ... much sorry! I will do my best in future Me too: I played now for the first time a game like this with fighting like a dragon ... o, so much time in the beginning my dragonform ... die often ... only because I was so very clumsy with the controller (I play on xbox) ... LOL ... also with the platforms: jumping between them, ooo ... catastrophic in the beginning ... much exercise

I'm with stubble on this. I never play flight sims, space/aerial battles, or platform jumpers and this game has ALL of those and I HATE,LOATHE and DETEST those types of games. Put that sort of crap in an rpg as OPTIONAL side quest stuff if you like, but it should NEVER be a part of the main quest line. This is supposed to be an rpg. If I wanted flight battles and jumpers, I buy those types of games. Div 2 has fallen from a 95% game in the first half, to a total FAIL once you get Dragon form!!
If God said it, then that settles it!!

I find it quite enjoyable with some occasional jumping. Better than just point and click without much actual action.
