Hello, I am a user that just got a copy of this game, the issue I am having is that on every launch the game will not start due to " Driver update required" now the drive is the most up-to-date one, not only that but this computer hasn't been around long enough to have old drivers in it. I also got this game on steam, if there is a known fix I seem to be missing do let me know, both the RAA ( run as admin) and the Desktop composition are off... I fail to see how the physx driver is " requiring an update" Any idea would be most helpful the full error name is "Couldn't initialize nVidia PhysX. Make sure you have installed the lasest nVidia PhysX software (which can be downloaded at www.nvidia.com)" Which I do

You probably should post this on the divinity forum on Steam so that their admin is at least aware in the event that this issue occurs for other people. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=4c1bc2b0f3293f9724399808a3cf0b27&f=822I would also try either validating the game from within Steam or deleting the local content, and uninstalling your Physx driver and try installing Div 2 from Steam and letting it install the Physx driver.

ohh I know I will do that, as much as I enjoy redownloading the game ;/ sigh by by Internet usage might try just uninstalling the driver and then installing it from the install file in the support folder first see if that works

I have Win7x64 Ultimate also and did not encounter this error. I have a GTX 295 and a GTX 260 dedicated to Physx. My video driver version is 195.62 and Physx is 9.09.1112.
I do not receive any Physx errors at all. The only problem I get is the game won't exit to windows normally and has to be forced out.

Daeden, I too experienced the same bug "freezing occurs when attempting to exit to windows" in Win 7 32 bit, by running Div 2 in Win XP SP3 compatibility mode.

That would turn off all DX10 features. And sorry for derailing the thread.
Back to Physx not working.
Did you completely rip out Physx? Silly question... Have you tested Physx on your system to make sure it works? I've heard of cards having to be RMA's because the GPU crapped out whenever Physx was involved, but was fine otherwise.

Well it works on any other game that requires it, Batman one for instance, But I will install a test program from nvidia and see if any errors show up. Otherwise I am going to kill something! after this test I will uninstall the driver, then install the one under support, then if that fails to work I will cry...

Test regesters that the physx driver is working, perfectly fine ( using the StarTalesBenchmark) shows the drive is installed correctly.... Lets put some states up then see if this has anything to do with it:

I did a clean uninstall of the PhysX driver, even the gfx card driver, and then installed the driver for the gfx first then the driver from the support folder and the Larian folder Physx reg.... Still will not work. if you could hear me screaming it would deafen you!!!! my theory is that the game isnt finding the driver correctly or the codes just useless on launch, I can't get into the game, nor do anything... reinstalling the game would show no help due to it being a download version not an install

Could you run this:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\divinity ii - ego draconis\Support\PhysX\PhysX_9.09.0428_SystemSoftware.exe
And then this:

Okay. The error message you get is still the same? Is it Divinity 2 that is throwing the error or PhysX? Can you make a screenshot of the error message? Does the error message show up immediately or does the game actually try to start?

I will explain the steps to launch...... I double click the game within the steam game manager... The game attempts to launch, it is then halted due to the error message poping up saying Couldn't initialize nVidia PhysX. Make sure you have installed the lasest nVidia PhysX software (which can be downloaded at http://www.nvidia.com) I will take a screeny of it, but that is all that is done, when it closes ( the error message) the game ends launch ... this happens every time, without fail.. Give me a sec to get it for you

Okay, it's our own engine throwing the error. Happens right after we try to initialize PhysX and if that fails, PhysX returns an error, and we throw this message.
I just installed PhysX 9.09.1112 and ran DIV2 through Steam and the game still works. I am however working on XP, not Win7 64bit. Will keep asking round and see if we can find a Windows 7 machine.

Can you run the PhysXRegInstaller with admin rights? (Or run it from command prompt, I believe Win7 command prompt has all rights.) If this did its job correctly, you should find this binary value in your registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AGEIA Technologies\enableLocalPhysXCore (You can start up the registry by pressing START, the click RUN, then type regedit and hit OK. There is no need to change anything, I would just like you to check if that key is there. I smudged the value cause it is the MAC address of a computer.)

No I do not see that there, I see this is the issue, anyideas on how to get the Reginstaller to work? ( right clicked and did run with admin, but when I did it the first time it said it was required to use xp sp2 :? which was odd but it opened up a CMD and then close and I had the idea it worked, seems not. I will try again to get that file to work)

What you can do is create a binary value in the registry, in the path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AGEIA Technologies\ So run regedit, and on the left, go to that "folder". Then on the right, right click in the white space, choose NEW and then choose Binary value. Rename it: enableLocalPhysXCore (mind the caps!) Then double click that value and fill in your mac address in the data field. You can look up your mac address by opening command prompt and typing ipconfig /all One of the lines will say Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : The 12 characters after that are your mac address. So in the end, the content of enableLocalPhysXCore should look like this: Just start typing the 12 chars and it will end up like that. Never mind the four zeroes on the left

I'm betting you need to delete the entire AGEIA Technologies registry key and reinstall Physx. Followed by running D2's PhysxReg thing.
This fixed the same error for someone else who was trying to play a different game.
Another user found it under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node

I did a check, and I did find the AGEIA,s PhysX in the WOW6423Node, including the enableLocalPhysXCore :?
Well you see by reinstalling, adding the node, is basically all I have done up till that step ;? my idea would be sigh uninstall the blustered game again, and reinstall( which is redownaloding it ;/ ) , but the issue is that's the 6th time and its been downloaded to much I will overused my own download limit, and the cost of that out weights a game that will not work... there has to be a way to get this thing to work, I do not know what the hell is making this happen and its starting to make me very angry.

You should be able to backup the game so you can re-install it without having to re-download it. If it was a corruption problem with the download, you'd think the second download should have fixed it...

YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( before I get too excited!) Ok let me inform you set by set, It seems the the older drivers only install into the 32bit systems, and thus if I edit the reg files ( adding the enableLocalPhysXCore) it rights the mto both, what I did was, Uninstall driver disable physx in nvidia cp install newest driver without older one put enableLocalPhysXCore in only the system folder AGEIA one and it worked withthe " your physX driver is newer warning hehe" I AM HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!

Another user found it under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node Wow6432 has nothing to do with Ageia or the game and doing this will harm your computer. DO NOT LISTEN TO THAT GUY.

the best idea is to do this, ensure that the enableLocalPhysXCore is only in the Software AGEIA Folder, theres a folder under that wow6432 thing also named AGEIA I wouldnt touch it but heres what you should do, uninstall your driver for the physics, install the newest one only not anything else... then go into the regedit, go to the AGIEA under software and add the enableLocalPhysXCore with your mac address... that should get it working otherwise I wouldnt know but the key thing is not to install over old drivers, install over the highest new one and ensure that enableLocalPhysXCore is only found in the Software/AGEIA folder not the other sub root... best of luck

I completely agree, for there will be people like me that will be using the steam version, and wont have a clue what to do... I would think to make a link to this thread or something, for I know that exe file didnt work at all and most people will think it did. I will keep my eye on this and other topics to lend my ideas and understanding of this issue Also on terms of game, I have had NO issues gfxs on the 1.3 are at extrema Man I am enjoy this game dispite the issues, I would still give this game 4.5 out of 5! And I rate harshly normally .. Good work developers and thank you for your help!

I had a similar issue, it turned out that physx had bound the mac address of Hamachi's virtual Ethernet adapter, once I changed the bound MAC to my actual adapter then Boom it worked.
