The endgame movie...
...really bummed me. I mean, seeing that the hero in the movie almost killed the baby but stayed his hand. And, since there's no clarification whether the Lord of Chaos, now in the baby's body, is banished, the path to a sequel is so predictable that I want to bang my head against the wall. Either:
1. The baby grows to become the next generic Evil Overlord, i.e. Lord of Chaos, and proceeds to terrorize Rivellon.
a.) A new hero must take down this evil, since the old one (the Divine One) is too senile or has been - in the classic, cliched style - murdered by the baby.
b.) The old hero goes back to adventuring, although, unless Divinity's essence has imbued him/her with immortality/long lifespan, the hero'd be a bit old. (Forty+, at least.)
2. The baby grows up into a normal human being, but must battle the essence of the evil within him/herself.
a.) Some new evil sods, or surviving followers of the Black Ring, seek to make this baby into their tools.
b.) Some evil sod wants the essence of Bhaal -- I mean, Lord of Chaos -- for himself. Cue in Baldur's Gate II.
I mean no disrespect. Larian Studios has done an outstanding job, even though the endgame is a bit tedious in its hack'n'slash nature. But the utter predictability foreshadowed by the ending movie irked me. A lot. I hope I'll be proven wrong and the storywriting folk at Larian will be able to come up with something new. (Ok, <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> itself, in term of story and themes, isn't awfully original. Still...)
