If you go into the entrance near where you found the troll, you wont be able to enter through the gate there. There a gap by the side of the gate where you can jump over and enter the battle tower. Once you over, just kill those skeletons inside and you will spot a lever near the gate. All the gates there are to be open by levers. Just observe your surrounding more carefully. Some levers just wont be located beside the gate, and you need some jumping in order to reach them
