Every patch for the Xbox has to go through a quality test by Microsoft. A done patch then doesn't mean it is ready for download, and a patch may fail the Microsoft test for a further delay.
...and even then it can go wrong. Which is exactly what happened to the latest Dragon Age: Origin update that removed your character specialization unlocks. Very annoying.
