Divinity 2 is an open-world open-skill kind of RPG. You don't have to play a certain way. Even if in farglow you choose warrior you can still use a bow or level up the fire ball spell. You can level and use any skill in the skill tree. Though you should still chose a play-style. Don't try to learn every skill as you won't be able to level them all effectively. If you like playing as a warrior use things like whirlwind and fatality but supplement yourself with other skills like exploding arrow and summon demon. The game is also heavily based on the level difference between you and the foe, an enemy 1 or 2 levels above you can give you trouble and what's worse is enemies are usually in a group. Try to fight enemies that are as close to your level as possible. Also try to kite/separate enemies form the main group to make taking a group of enemies down.
