Buff is usually word for someone who use unnatural
Like when you drink potion that gives you more strength for limited time
You can also buff yourself with some magics
Of course even enemies can be buffed
but you can debuff them with lets say "curse spell"
It will bring down their ressistance
So buff increase ability and debuff decrease ability
