In XP does Windows Explorer give an error trying to access the DVD?
Does Explorer recognize there is a disk in the drive? If so, does it list the files and folders on the DVD? If so, can you read any of the files on the DVD (I would assume there is a readme.txt file, or something)?
Someone else ran into a similar install problem recently, but on Vista.
