Do you get an error trying to install, or a crash, or what?

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before trying to install the game?

First Aid : when Div2 does not start or crashes

We have tried to install with a second new Div2 disc ( took first one back to store in case it was faulty)and all three pc desktops will not recognise either disk. We are working our way through your
First Aid at the moment and will keep in touch!! The game loads fine on Vista notebook but on 3 pc desktops the disc is not even recognised. Having played the first two Divinity series and knowing how good they were,I am anxious to play this one! Cheers ...... Mike W.

In XP does Windows Explorer give an error trying to access the DVD?
Does Explorer recognize there is a disk in the drive? If so, does it list the files and folders on the DVD? If so, can you read any of the files on the DVD (I would assume there is a readme.txt file, or something)?

Someone else ran into a similar install problem recently, but on Vista.

Cant even Install the Game

Do the 3 desktop computers have the same or similar model optical drives, or fairly old ones? That's the only way I would think a conflict might occur with a couple different copies of the same DVD.
Check if there are any firmware updates for the optical drives (ie which may fix a conflict with the copy protection), either with the computer manufacturer's site or the optical drive maker.

Do you have a Linux live CD around? If so, you could try the disk in Linux to help narrow down if the problem is hardware or software (IIRC the Ubuntu live CD loads into memory and then releases the optical drive so it can be used, and other distributions probably do as well). If you don't have a Linux live CD, try booting into Safe Mode (hold F5 down as Windows starts, or F8 to bring up a boot menu, IIRC), which could help eliminate a software conflict or driver problem as the issue.
